apt - Unable to install phpmyadmin using terminal

sir I used to install phpmyadmin using terminal.for that i use

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

but it shows an error given below

$ sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

after that I wrote

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

yet I have the same problem. It shows the above error.
so please sir help me out from this problem
